As a result of our Putting People First philosophy, our people go out of their way to give back to each other and the communities we serve. To recognize their efforts, we launched our Difference Makers award last year, giving our people the opportunity to make a difference on a global scale.
In 2016, four Difference Makers and their guests joined our CEO Scott Beck on a company-sponsored humanitarian trip to Kenya, where the group had the opportunity to learn more about the Kenyan culture and to help build a much-needed school for boys. Read more about their journey in this CHG Pulse story.
This year, we’re not only sending six Difference Makers to Kenya for another company-sponsored humanitarian trip, we’ve also partnered with Making a Difference Foundation to send three CompHealth physicians on the trip to deliver quality healthcare, furthering our impact in the community.
Learn more about the physicians joining us in our efforts to make a difference:
Dr. Gina Bell
Dr. Bell is a full-time locum tenens physician as well as an instructor in Southern Illinois University’s Family Medicine Residency Program. A single mom raising two kids, Dr. Bell began working locum tenens seven years ago to have better control of her schedule and provide for her children. Her son, Isaiah, hopes to follow in his mother’s footsteps and is currently applying to medical school. He’ll be joining his mother on the journey to Kenya.
Dr. Adaobi Okonkwo
A native of Nigeria, Dr. Okonkwo has spent time in Kenya and is extremely excited for the opportunity to return. Her familiarity with Kenya puts her in the unique position of understanding the culture and people of the area. Dr. Okonkwo has had many great experiences as a locum tenens physician and looks forward to sharing knowledge gained from those experiences with the physicians she’ll work alongside in Kenya.
Dr. Peter Kim
Dr. Kim is an OB/GYN physician from Colorado who lives by a “whatever it takes” attitude. He has a strong desire to help others and provide excellent medical care — no matter the circumstances. Dr. Kim chose to work locum tenens as a way to spend more time with his family. He was nominated to go on the trip by his CompHealth recruiter who calls him the kindest, humblest, most hardworking and appreciative physician she has had the privilege of working with.
These physicians and our Difference Makers head to Kenya next week. We can’t wait to share their photos and stories when they get back!
